About Peter

Peter Boulware first came to Tallahassee in 1993 on an athletic scholarship to play football for Florida State University (FSU). At that time he viewed football as a means to pay for his education.

Peter was determined to use his scholarship to its full potential. Hard work and determination on the field as well as off changed everything. By Peter’s Redshirt Junior year on the team he led the nation in sacks, broke the FSU all-time sack record, and was named Defensive Player of the Year. After that season Peter decided to enter the NFL draft where he was the fourth overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens.

In spite of leaving college football early for the NFL, Peter did not leave the college classroom behind. He continued his studies and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from Florida State University.

Peter played nine years in the National Football League all with the Baltimore Ravens. During his career in the NFL, Peter was named the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1997, selected for the Pro Bowl four times, played on the Super Bowl XXXV winning team, and was inducted into the Baltimore Ravens’ Ring of Honor.

During his time in Baltimore, Maryland, Peter had the privilege of getting involved with the local community and starting the Peter Boulware Charitable Foundation. The foundation focused on sports programs at inner-city high schools, where student athletes were provided with trainers and a mentoring program that assisted them on and off the field.

During most of Peter’s NFL career, he made Tallahassee his home in the off season. He and his wife Kensy met while in school here and fell in love with the city. After Peter’s retirement they made Tallahassee their full time home where they now raise their three children.

Outside of his career in the NFL, Peter was also able to build a successful career in the car business. He has bought and sold several dealerships and currently serves as the vice president of Legacy Toyota of Tallahassee.

Peter is excited to continue his quest to give back to the community through public service. Peter is proud to be a part of this unique community and is committed to be a powerful advocate for Tallahassee in the Florida Legislature.
