Aug 5, 2008

Tallahassee, Fla. The Florida Chamber of Commerce CCE (Florida Chamber) today announced its endorsement of Republican State House Candidate Peter Boulware for House District 9.

“The Florida Chamber is proud to continually select and support candidates who have proven their knowledge of business issues and connection to the community,” said Marian Johnson, vice president of political strategy for the Florida Chamber.  “Peter’s background as a business owner, as well as his strong connection to the Tallahassee area, makes him the best choice for the business community.”

“I thank the Florida Chamber for their endorsement of my campaign and for their continued commitment to encouraging economic growth in our state,” said Boulware.  “It is through organizations like the Florida Chamber that our local businesses and residents are given the opportunity to thrive in the workplace.”

“As a local businessman myself, I am honored to have been endorsed by this organization,” continued Boulware.  “If elected, I look forward to diligently working to sustain and bring new economic opportunities to our district that will allow our local businesses to flourish for years to come.”

Boulware is a candidate for Florida House District 9, which includes parts of Gadsden, Jefferson and Leon Counties.  The seat is currently held by Representative Loranne Ausley, who is term-limited out.

Boulware, currently the vice president of Legacy Toyota of Tallahassee, retired from the NFL in 2006.  During his career with the Baltimore Ravens, Boulware was named the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1997, selected for the Pro Bowl four times, participated in Super Bowl XXXV, and inducted into the Baltimore Ravens’ Ring of Honor.  Prior to being drafted to the NFL in 1997, Boulware was a consensus All-American and National Defensive Player of the Year at Florida State University, where he played defensive end and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems.  Boulware resides in Tallahassee with his wife, Kensy, and three children.
